Inshore Fishing Charters
Inshore fishing trips in Virginia Beach typically stay very close to the beach & in sight of land. These trips are usually best for families with younger children or for groups that have limited experience fishing or on the ocean. Most fish inshore are going to be of the smaller size like Spanish Mackerel, Bluefish, Croaker, Spot, Spadefish & Ribbonfish.... although we do fairly often come across larger species such as Cobia, Red Drum, King Mackerel & Sharks, it doesn't happen all the time. If you are an avid fisherman or an adult group expecting large hard fighting fish, This may not be the trip for you. If you specify you only want to target the larger fish we can definitely change tactics & try to accommodate.
Middle Grounds "Nearshore" Fishing Charters
Mid Shore or "Nearshore" fishing trips in Virginia Beach travel out a bit farther "from 15 to 35 miles" & target species that typically do not come as close to shore. This is a good trip to choose if you have been on inshore trips before & just want more of an "offshore" experience to target different species & have a longer day on the water. There are good shipwrecks out farther that hold an abundance of different species such as Black Seabass, Tautog, Flounder, Triggerfish, Black Drum & More. Also in these same areas during certain times of the mid summer season we can troll for Mahi Mahi, King Mackerel, Skipjack Tuna & even the occasional Sailfish or White Marlin is landed.
Offshore - Deep Sea Fishing Charters
Offshore / Deep Sea fishing trips in Virginia Beach is definitely where you want to be to catch your "fish of a lifetime" bucket list fish. Please keep in mind that we need a very good calm marine weather forecast to be able to travel these distances in open ocean. These trips do get canceled about 50% of the time as weather conditions are very different way out there compared to on land forecasts. These trips travel out 50 to 80 miles away from shore "depending where the bite is" to fish the deep canyon waters of the Gulf Stream. These are the areas where the large pelagic species forage for their dinners. Large fish such as Yellowfin & Bigeye Tuna, Mahi Mahi, Wahoo, White & Blue Marlin roam these areas in search of an easy meal. We also fish the deep canyon bottoms of 300 to 2000 feet deep in search of Blueline & Golden Tilefish, Grouper, Rosefish, Barrelfish & Swordfish. If you think your ready....You should definitely check this one off your bucket list. You just may become addicted like us!
Deep sea fishing Virginia Beach is a favorite pastime for hundreds of local captains and anglers from all over the country. Its waters offer some of the best saltwater fishing in the mid-Atlantic. There are scattered debris, bottom structures, canyons, underwater aircrafts, and shipwrecks with just myriads of exciting fish species.
A Virginia Beach offshore charter will take you to the area’s wrecks, underwater canyons, and towers. The Chesapeake Light Tower, for example, is only 13 miles offshore. But if you want to fish farther, bigger, and deeper, head to the famous Gulf Stream and the Norfolk Canyon.
Big predators hang around the steep, rocky walls of the trench. The hungry monsters are just waiting for the currents to get them a meal. There are Swordfish, Sailfish, Big Eye & Yellowfin Tuna, Blue Marlin, White Marlin, Wahoo, and other big boys.
It goes without saying that a deep sea fishing trip in Virginia Beach deserves a full day. Some of the best offshore fishing grounds are 75 miles from ports. It’s also important to find a local captain who knows the area.
When fishing around wrecks and in deep trenches, you will be dropping bait for Golden and Blueline Tilefish, Codfish, Black Seabass, Tautog, Snowy Grouper, and many other delicious species. Rosefish are also around as deep down as 300’. Some of them make great table fare to say the least.
Early summer trips will take you to the reefs and wrecks for Black Seabass, Flounder, Cobia, and more!. Tuna, Mahi, Marlin & Wahoo can be caught offshore near deep trenches and underwater canyons.
The fall and winter months are great for Tuna, Wahoo, Swordfish, and offshore Deep Dropping. Check it out for yourself!
